Health, Safety and Nutrition

We provide full-time and part-time child care for children ages 12 months to five years. Children must have completed the CDC's recommended vaccination schedule prior to enrollment. See schedule here.

Hours and availability are based on a family's needs and work or school schedule.

Our Program

The most important aspect of care is your child's health, safety and nutrition. Safety is of the utmost importance at all times. Proper child-sized furniture, a dedicated play space, and easy-to-follow rules reduce the risk of accidents and falls. Our program focuses on basic hygiene including frequent hand-washing, brushing our teeth after lunch and maintaing clean play and rest areas. Children learn the basics of self-care, how to protect themselves from germs and how to protect our friends as well. Meals and snacks follow the national school breakfast and lunch program administered by the USDA's Child and Adult Care Food Program. Every effort is made to ensure children are served high-quality, nutrient-dense foods.

Our program focuses on 10 key skills to help children transition to kindergarten. Many early elementary teachers praise these skills and have stated that children who come to them prepared have an easier time learning new and challenging material. Writing, letter recognition, beginning sounds, number recognition and counting, shapes and colors, fine motor skills, cutting, reading readiness, attention and following directions, and social skills are all important building blocks for success in school. These skills are woven into our daily activties and resources are provided to help parents continue skill-building at home.

Children have an opportunity to "work" on our backyard garden. We grow flowers, fruits and veggies most of the year. Children love learning about the garden, searching for bugs and watering.

Conscious Discipline(TM) is an evidenced-based national model for character and behavior which focuses on four components - brain state, safety, connection and problem-solving - which are scientifically and practically designed for adult/child success.

Lending Library

Great readers are made on the laps of their parents. We have an extensive children's book collection that is open for borrowing. Children often like to share their favorite books from child care with their families and re-reading books can be a comforting activity for children with separation anxiety. We also have a wealth of child development books for parents to borrow. Each family is allowed to borrow 5 books for up to two full weeks.

HighScope's educational approach emphasizes “active participatory learning.” Active learning means students have direct, hands-on experiences with people, objects, events, and ideas. Children’s interests and choices are at the heart of HighScope programs. To learn more click here.
